Principal Residence Exemption

Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal

The removal and denial of the PRE were a direct result of my failure to respond to a mail-in audit notice. I did not intentionally fail to respond. The reason for the

delayed receipt and subsequent inability to respond in a timely manner is due to a discrepancy in the property's mailing address.

The property in question is a two-unit dwelling. While the official tax parcel address is 320 Kenilworth St, I receive all of my mail at 324 Kenilworth St. The audit

notice was sent to the official property address and was not forwarded or delivered to my specific unit in a timely manner. I was not notified of the audit and its time-

sensitive deadline until after the response period had already passed.

As the property owner, I have continuously resided at this address as my principal residence throughout the entire audit period in question. The inability to respond to

the audit was a procedural issue related to a mailing address error, not a reflection of my eligibility for the exemption.
