STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER GOVERNOR DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS LANSING ORLENE HAWKS DIRECTOR Michigan 48202 Taxing Authority: City of Detroit (Wayne) County: Wayne Classification of Property: Real Residential Section 4: Check which of the following you are appealing Principal Residence Exemption Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal The removal and denial of the PRE were a direct result of my failure to respond to a mail-in audit notice. I did not intentionally fail to respond. The reason for the delayed receipt and subsequent inability to respond in a timely manner is due to a discrepancy in the property's mailing address. The property in question is a two-unit dwelling. While the official tax parcel address is 320 Kenilworth St, I receive all of my mail at 324 Kenilworth St. The audit notice was sent to the official property address and was not forwarded or delivered to my specific unit in a timely manner. I was not notified of the audit and its time- sensitive deadline until after the response period had already passed. As the property owner, I have continuously resided at this address as my principal residence throughout the entire audit period in question. The inability to respond to the audit was a procedural issue related to a mailing address error, not a reflection of my eligibility for the exemption. Section 6: Jurisdictional Issues List the year(s) denied: 2022, 2023 Indicate who denied the exemption under appeal: Local Unit If you checked “other” above, explain: List the date the Principal Residence Exemption or Qualified Agricultural Exemption was denied: 1/2/2024 Fee Information A fee of $25.00 is required for the filing of this appeal unless you possess a Principal Residence Exemption of at least 50% at the time of the filing of this petition.
