Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Adnan Hammad, a 67-year-old retired

senior citizen and wife Safia Saker. We are writing to appeal the recent increase in the

property tax assessment for my residential home, located at 1715 HERON VIEW Court

in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

| purchased my home in a high exaggerated seler market

environment back in September 2023, at which time the annual property tax was

$2,800. However, in February 2024,

| received a notice from West Bloomfield indicating

that my property tax had nearly doubled to $5,900, nore than 100% increase. This

significant increase will create a financial burden that

| am unable to bear. In March

2024,

| appealed this decion to the West Bloomfield Township Assessment Board.

Unfortunately, the board decided not to grant my request, leaving the tax assessment

unchanged. As a retiree, my income is solely dependent on my Social Security check

and a modest 401 (k) contribution. The current tax amount represents almost three

months of my SS income, which is unsustainable for me.

diseases, including a heart condition, and living in this area is essential for me to access

Subject: property tax Appeal for ID: X-18-05-128-033

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Adnan Hammad, a 67-year-old retired senior citizen

and Safia Saker a 54 years old spouse. We are writing to appeal the recent increase in the

property tax assessment for my residential home, located at 1715 HERON VIEW Court, West

Bloomfield, Michigan. I purchased my home in a high exaggerated seller market environment

back in September 2023, at which time the annual property tax for this residence was $2,800.

However, in February 2024, I received a notice from West Bloomfield indicating that my

property tax had doubled to $5,900, almost more than 100% increase. This significant increase

will create a financial burden that I am unable to bear. In March 2024, | appealed this decision to

the West Bloomfield Township Assessment Board. Unfortunately, the board decided not to grant

my request, leaving the tax assessment unchanged, see attached enclosures. As a retiree, my

income is solely dependent on my $2300 Social Security check and a modest 401(k)

contribution. The current tax amount represents almost three months of my SS income, which is

unsustainable for me and my family. I have submitted documents to the Board indicating that

home taxes in my area have much lower tax rates than our home. I also shared with them the bad

condition of the home I bought, that needs to be updated with new windows, roof, and heating

and cooling system. Ihave multiple chronic diseases, including a heart condition, and living in

this area is essential for me to access the healthcare I need.

1 have worked for over 30 years and consistently paid my taxes, understanding the importance of

supporting our children, the elderly and vulnerable population and community needs. Now, I am

seeking assistance to ensure that we can continue to live in our home without the overwhelming

financial stress of this increased tax burden.

I kindly request that you reconsider my property tax assessment and restore it to the former

amount or a closer, more manageable figure. Your understanding and assistance in this matter

would be greatly appreciated, as it would significantly improve my family quality of life.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
