MTT Docket No. 26-002633 RESPONDENT RESPONSE TO ORDER OF DEFAULT AND NOTICE OF CORRECT SERVICE ADDRESS Respondent, Township Of South Haven, submits this response to the Order of Default entered September 30, 2026, to explain the service address error and identify the correct address for future service. 1. Petitioner's proof of service states that the petition was mailed on August 14, 2026, to the South Haven Township assessor and clerk at 539 Phoenix Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090. A copy of that proof of service is attached as Exhibit A. 2. The address of 539 Phoenix Street is the address of the City of South Haven, a separate municipal entity. It is not the address of South Haven Township. Mailing documents to the City address did not direct those documents to the Township offices. 3. The failure to timely answer resulted from this City/Township address mix-up. Respondent brings the discrepancy to the Tribunal's attention promptly after learning of the default and intends to defend this appeal on its merits. 4. The correct Township mailing address is: South Haven Charter Township Attention Assessor and Clerk 09761 Blue Star Memorial Highway South Haven, MI 49090 Assessor email: Assessor@Southhaventwpmi.gov 5. Respondent acknowledges that the Order requires an answer to be filed and served, with proof of service filed, within 14 days of entry. This response explains the address discrepancy and does not replace the required answer. Respondent requests that the Tribunal recognize the default as cured upon timely completion of those requirements and update its service records to reflect the correct Township address.
