STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS MARLON I. BROWN, DPA GOVERNOR LANSING DIRECTOR Section 4: Check which of the following you are appealing [] Principal Residence Exemption Qualified Agricultural Exemption Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal Petitioner owns 3 adjoining parcels. All three have been classified agricultural dating back to 2013 and beyond. Parcel 3212-010-011-50 (38 acres } and Parcel 3212-010-011-50 (2 Acres) continue to be classified agricultural. Parcel 12-010-010-00 ( 40 Acres) was classified Agricultural according to MCL 211.34 ¢ commencing 2014. In 2019 Petitioner began construction of a home on Parcel 12-010-010-00. Construction was completed in 2020. All three parcels continued to be classified agricultural through 2024. Commencing 2025 the house and entire 40 acres of parcel 12-010-010-00 was classified Residential. The adjoining 2 parcels remain agricultural. Petitioner maintains that a partial exemption should apply to the house and the remaining property should retain its prior agricultural status. The assessor and Board of Review denied this request because less than 50% of Parcel 12-010-010-00 is being farmed. The Farm Service Agency Producer Farm Data Report for 2025 reflects that Parcel 12-010-010-00 has 27.43 acres of cropland. Furthermore, This parcel should continue to be classified as agricultural according to MCL 211.34 ¢ as the adjoining 40 acres of land continues to be classified agricultural. Section 6: Jurisdictional Issues Indicate who denied the exemption under appeal: Assessor County Treasurer or Equalization Michigan Dept. of Treasury Board of Review Other % If you checked “other” above, explain: List the date your Principal Residence Exemption or Qualified Agricultural Exemption was denied: JulyTax 21,2026year) denied: 00 1 15 (10 Fee Information A filing fee of $25.00 is required untess the property has a Principal Residence Exemption of at least 50% for all tax years at issue on the date this petition is filed.
