Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal
Our property taxes increased 40% from the 2024 taxes of the previous owner. This
prompted us to reviewed other properties purchased within the past year similar in cost
or size to ours. According to other homes adjustment of taxes during sale years, we
should have a lower taxable value. The taxable vaiue should be closer to the $187,000
range if a ration of 1:2.46 were used. Multiple ranch homes sold in the past year have
an even higher ratio that gives those property owners significantly lower taxes. After our
appeal was denied by the Georgetown board of review, we met with Connor Galligan,
Georgetown assessor, and he was unable to explain the discrepencies.
