STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER GOVERNOR DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS LANSING MARLON I. BROWN, DPA DIRECTOR 2 of 3 There were several supporting comparisons to my property that were presented at the appeal including over 10 comp sales within 1 mile and over 15 assessed value within the neighborhood that are far lower than the SEV on my home. In addition, there was a finished basement and extra bathroom in the assessment that were not done. This was verified through the assessing department. The fractional reduction that was given is appreciated but only took into account the removal of the finished basement and bathroom, which should have been done earlier, and never took into account the other empirical supporting evidence on comp sales and valuations within the 1 mile radius. I am not asking to match the lowest comps within a 1 mile radius, just an average of the lowest 10-15 relative to my home. I believe it is a very reasonable request and incredibly sensitive since my taxes will be uncapped next year. Jurisdictional Issues: Did you protest the assessment at a Board of Review?
