STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER GOVERNOR DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS LANSING ORLENE HAWKS DIRECTOR Michigan 49010 Taxing Authority: Township Of Allegan (ALLEGAN) County: Allegan Classification of Property: Personal Residential Section 4: Check which of the following you are appealing Principal Residence Exemption Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal I received a letter several months ago stating that my primary residence exemption had been removed. I called the number and talked to the PRE representative and they said I was under audit and that I did not respond within 30 days of the initial notification. I told the representative I never received anything from them asking for anything from me. They told me I should have responded within 30 days and I could appeal their decision. I did appeal and my appeal letter simply said I did not respond within 30 days so my appeal was denied. The piece of paper I have in my hand saying that my house that I live in is going to go into tax foreclosure does not even have my correct address on it from treasurer. My house is not 323 Walnut St Allegan, MI. It has always been 323 N Walnut St. Allegan, MI. I then made numerous attempts to try and get this settled and now I have a letter saying my house is going to be foreclosed on because of delinquent taxes. I pay $7,000 in property taxes every year and now because I dont pay enough in taxes my house is going to be taken from me for delinquent taxes. This is more than shameful as I have tried dozens of times to get this resolved. I have call everyone and nobody is able to help me. Allegan treasurer says they don't do anything with this, the state of Michigan says Allegan takes care of this and they can't help. I personally went to city hall and they said my house is listed as my primary residence. This whole process is beyond reprehensible. Section 6: Jurisdictional Issues List the year(s) denied: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023. Indicate who denied the exemption under appeal: County If you checked “other” above, explain: List the date the Principal Residence Exemption or Qualified Agricultural Exemption was denied: 2024 Fee Information A fee of $25.00 is required for the filing of this appeal unless you possess a Principal Residence Exemption of at least 50% at the time of the filing of this petition.
