STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER GOVERNOR DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS LANSING MARLON I. BROWN, DPA DIRECTOR Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal I am petitioning to have Principal Residence Exemption (PRE) restored for 2349 Pine Lake Ave for the calendar year 2026. This property is my permanent address and the home where I have been living full-time since June 2024. I considered renting the home out on Airbnb as a short-term rental when I am on vacation, but never completed the final setup on Airbnb and thus never rented it out. The reasoning here being I realized I needed to do more research on renting out my home and decided I did not feel comfortable with someone in my home when I was not there. I also want to note I did not receive the first notice to dispute this claim before the matter was escalated to the tribunal. I first learned of the issue when I received the letter dated September 23 and then contacted the office for Waterford Township Assessing Dept. by phone upon receiving the letter. I have also filed a claim with the USPS regarding my missing mail. Because the home has been my primary residence the entire time and was never rented out, I believe I continue to qualify for the exemption. Section 6: Jurisdictional Issues List the year(s) denied: 2026 Indicate who denied the exemption under appeal: Assessor If you checked “other” above, explain: List the date the Principal Residence Exemption or Qualified Agricultural Exemption was denied: 2026-09-23 Fee Information A fee of $25.00 is required for the filing of this appeal unless you possess a Principal Residence Exemption of at least 50% at the time of the filing of this petition. Does the subject property have a principal residence exemption of at least 50% as of the date of the filing of this petition?
