Section 4: Explain the Reason for this Appeal

During 2023, 2024, 2025 | had no source of income and was living off my savings
and IRA accounts and help from my family causing financial hardship trying to pay
my property taxes. | paid my property taxes only to find out later from an AARP tax
advisor this year (20286) | could have applied for MCL 211.7u Poverty Exemption.

Initially | was ill advised by Highland Township assessors when | inquired if there was
any form of relief or assistance for my property taxes. The Highland township
assessors referred me to the treasurer and after multiple failed attempts and getting
the run around | gave up in frustration.

1 was told of the Poverty Extension when the tax professional was filing my 2025
income taxes. | am trying to recover overpayment of my property taxes.
