BROWN, DPA GOVERNOR LANSING DIRECTOR Taxable value increase from 151,102 in 2024 (pre-house addition) to 351,098 in 2026 (post house addition). Taxable value more than doubling by almost 200,000. No transfer of ownership, no new house constructed. House addition/renovation consisted of approximately 1300 sq ft addition of living space (expansion of master bed/bath, 2nd floor bedroom/bath, living room, and relocation of laundry/mud room/powder room), a garage, a front/back porch, and due to the poor condition/irreparable state of the original Michigan basement the decision was made to place the house on a new foundation. Improvements made to existing house protected by Mathieu Gast Act. (windows/doors/roof/siding/ect). Original house value and land value protected by headlee amendment. Value added to SEV and taxable value from the addition far exceed reasonable increase based on comp sales and building cost calculations.
