STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER GOVERNOR DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS LANSING MARLON I. BROWN, DPA DIRECTOR 2 of 3 I am writing to formally appeal the March 2026 Board of Review decision regarding the assessed value of my property. I respectfully dispute the current assessed value and request further consideration based on documented evidence of the property' s true cash value. Enclosed with this letter are the Board of Review results, along with a recent independent appraisal completed to determine the fair market value of my home. The appraisal establishes a true cash value of $333,000. Prior to the review, my property was assessed at $210,980, which significantly exceeded 50% of the documented true cash value. Following the Board of Review, the assessed value was reduced to $180,000, which I appreciate. However, this assessment remains inconsistent with the requirements of the Michigan General Property Tax Act. Under Michigan law, a property' s assessed value may not exceed 50% of its true cash value. Based on the verified appraisal value of $333,000, the maximum allowable assessed value should be $166,500. The current assessment of $180,000 exceeds this statutory limit. For these reasons, I respectfully request a further reduction of my property' s assessed value to $166,500, in accordance with state law and the supporting appraisal documentation provided. Thank you for your time and consideration of this appeal. Please let me know if any additional information or documentation is needed to assist with your review.
