Property Tax Appeal Petition

gi Sha

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Please consider my property tax appeal petition — Valuation

Please know that my original appeal MTT Docket No. 24-003606 was received by your office on 7/2/24.

| received your 10/2/24 Order of Default, due to the petition not signed. After that date,

| assigned an

authorized representative, Dawn Pisoni, to file an amended petition ‘online’ after

| signed the petition. Due to

some website error, that amended petition had failed to download.

| received your Order of Dismissal dated 12/5/2024.

Thus,

| am re-filing just one of the original appeals, as the new Iron River Township Assessor resolved the case

for parcel No. 36-004-006-005-00.

Therefore,

| am appealing the 3/13/24 Board of Review decision:

1.

ww

The Iron River Township former assessor, Laura Erhart, used an unknown or inaccurate sales study

to place a valuation on my forty.

Unprofessional behavior of the former assessor, Laura Erhart. See copy of my complaint.

The forty-acre parcel is a swamp and is land-locked.

As a comparable sales study, near by forty, in 2013 parcel no. 004-067-001-00 (400 acres) and

parcel no. 004-068-002-00 (80 acres) was purchased for $150,00.

As a comparable sales study, in 2016,

| purchase parcel no. 004-085-002-00 (80 acres) for

$5,000.00.

If you have any questions, please call me at 906-396-4751.

Due to market conditions assessed values may have changed substantially. The assesement growth factors assigned to the

Township by the County represented an average of an 18% increase in Agricultural, Industrial and Residential properties. The

factor for Commercial properties was 40% increase. These are average increases, some properties increased more, others less.

If you have river or waterfront property you may see a significant assessed value change due to new procedures for valuing.

It is important to remember that assessed represents the value of your property. Taxable values only went up by the 5% IRM.

The 2024 Inflation Rate Multiplier (IRM) is: 1.05

I had problems getting the sales studies for my property from the assessor

| was told by the township supervisor to go to the Tribunal

I have applied to the tribunal for a hearing and am waiting a docket number, so

| can ask for a judge instead of one on

the computer

EAS

Attached are memos to the Iron River Township Board regarding my interaction with the assessor, Laura Erhart. Also

attached is a memo to the assessor requesting copies of the sales study. This was never provided to me.

When

SUBJECT;

Meeting with Assessor

After

| went to the March Board of Review,

| had questions on the decisions made by the Board of

Review and lack of explanations on the Notice of Assessment. So,

| went to the Township Hall to

get my property cards. The Assessor was not there so

| asked Dawn Pisoni if she would get my

cards.

submitted a FOIA request. The cards were sent to me by email, but they were not readable.

| called the Assessor to set up a meeting to discuss the decisions made on my property taxes and

the unreadable property cards. She said that it was unfortunate that

| asked Dawn Pisoni to get

them for me, in a sarcastic manner. She said to me that she has better things to do than get my

property cards with a thousand pages on them.

The Assessor set up a meeting with me on Thursday, May 23 at 12:00 noon at the Township Hall.

She got there at 12:30 pm. She was late.

| said, “Good Afternoon, Laura”. We went inside the main

hall to the table. She slammed down the bag she was carrying. So,

| sat down, and she sat down.

She said, “Alright, what do you have?”

said

I have my results card from the Board of Review and

there are some things

| do not understand. So,

| turned the card so she could read it. She said,

“Don't turn it towards me because

| can read upside down”,

said Okay and started to explain

myself and

| turned the results again and she said, “1 told you that

| can read upside down, don’t

turn it”.

1 said, “How can you do that?”. She said, “I taught myself to do that”,

| then said

| have my property cards and picked up the packet of cards. She jumped up and said,

“This meeting is over”.

1 said, “No it is not,

| want to get this settled.” She then screamed at me

again and said, “Yes, this meeting is over. We are leaving.”

1 said, “No,

am not leaving.” Then she

said, “l am calling the cops;” then she sald, “I am calling the sheriff”. 1said to myself, there is

something wrong here. As

| walked by her

to get out of the hall,

| heard her say, “you don't have to

come, he is leaving the building now.”

This meeting lasted no more than five minutes,
