Response to ORDER OF DEFAULT MTT Docket No. 25-002718 To Patricia L. Halm, Tribunal Chair The Tribunal has reviewed the file in the above-captioned case and finds that: Petitioner did not submit a copy of the notice giving rise to the appeal (i.e., notice of action taken by Board of Review, uncapping notice, PRE denial notice, final assessment notice, etc.), as required by TTR 279. As such, Petitioner must submit the notice within 14 days of the entry of this order. I did file a response to this issue in my original Filing. We never received any of the copies that you are requesting from the City Assessor. When I asked for Copies later, they said there were none. They would not give us any copies. We were on vacation from November 2024 until May of 2025. Traveling South for the Winter. We got home in May and did not know that this action had been taken against us. We found out when I received my Tax Statement in July of this year. We had someone checking our mail during our absent and never knew there was a problem. This Peron just stopped checking the mail in March and never inform us of his actions. When we got home, we found our mailbox had been torn off and was setting on the front porch. We then when to the Post Office to find our mail, and they told us our mail was being sent back because of the mailbox not being there. This happened in Mid-March. The Assessor sent us a routine Assessment letter in March which was sent back to them. They then sent out another notice in Mid-April saying that we had 30 Days to respond to this letter or our house would be considered vacant, and they would remove our homestead property tax exemption. When I tried to explain to them what had happened, they refused to work with us. Thank You Fred Cotterman
