STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER GOVERNOR DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS LANSING ORLENE HAWKS DIRECTOR Michigan 49749 Taxing Authority: Township Of Tuscarora (CHEBOYGAN) County: Cheboygan Classification of Property: Real Residential Section 4: Check which of the following you are appealing Principal Residence Exemption Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal Principal Residence Exemption was reduced from 100% in 2023 to 72%, and I did not receive a Denial of PRE at that time. I recently became aware of this while evaluating the new Notice of Assessment. I have owned this parcel since 2018 and have been living full time there since 2021, when I received a 100% PRE (which was in place for 2021 and 2022). I have met with Local Assessor (Clayton McGovern) who has supplied me with a PRE Denial, stating that there is additional living space as part of my detached garage. This space, which has been there for 20+ years, is used solely by my wife and I as workout space, storage, as well as overflow space for guests during the summer. It is not rented nor is any other business being conducted there. Section 6: Jurisdictional Issues List the year(s) denied: 2023,2024,2025,2026 Indicate who denied the exemption under appeal: Local Unit If you checked “other” above, explain: List the date the Principal Residence Exemption or Qualified Agricultural Exemption was denied: 2023 Fee Information A fee of $25.00 is required for the filing of this appeal unless you possess a Principal Residence Exemption of at least 50% at the time of the filing of this petition.
