STATE OF MICHIGAN GRETCHEN WHITMER GOVERNOR DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS LANSING MARLON I. BROWN, DPA DIRECTOR Section 5: Explain the Reason for this Appeal Switched my house from being in my dads name to my name in the winter of 2024. Sent in documentation in the spring of 2025 to complete this process. Summer of 2025 my dad and I go into the city assessors office and they claim that I needed to send in proof of residency. I sent this in so the house would be in my name and property taxes would be less. The city claimed that I did not prove residency when I sent in a picture of a conusmers energy bill to prove that I am living at the house. The city then sends us a delinquent tax for almost $2,000. Section 6: Jurisdictional Issues List the year(s) denied: 2025 Indicate who denied the exemption under appeal: Assessor If you checked “other” above, explain: List the date the Principal Residence Exemption or Qualified Agricultural Exemption was denied: Fee Information A fee of $25.00 is required for the filing of this appeal unless you possess a Principal Residence Exemption of at least 50% at the time of the filing of this petition.
