Section 4: Explain the Reason for this Appeal

The City of Birmingham will be replacing 100 year old water and sewer systems.

Wimbleton has been designated as a main road. When my husband purchased this

property it was two lots. They were combined into one lot because the 2nd lot was

considered unbuildable. This created a large, pie shaped lot with 220 feet of frontage

but not alot of land behind it. We are being assessed $8,007.66 for our portion of the

road and approach cost. We feel this is unfair due to the shape of our lot.

In addition,

this road is basically a half mile road and is heavily traveled by everyone, not just

neighborhood residents. We are retired and have not much to live on other than social

security. Taxes are already high and we fear this will force us out of our home since

1978. We will also have to pay for the sewer reconnection from the sidewalk to the

house. We are requesting a reduction in this assessed amount. The city has already

put a lien on our property and the project has not even started.

Section 5: Jurisdictional Issues
